Beach Trip, Second Time Around

We were so fortunate to get to go to Debordieu Beach in South Carolina for a second week this summer.  We headed south for our annual Spragins' family reunion at the beach.  We always have a lot of fun, and the kids love getting to spend time with their cousins!  This year, we had a couple of days with just Grammy and Grandpa.  Mark, Heather, and their kids came on Sunday night, and then Lucy and her family arrived on Monday night.  We all had a wonderful week soaking up the sun and playing in the sand!

Megan has become quite the beach baby!  She discovered that she was quite fond of the taste of sand!

A family photo-minus Megan-who was hanging out with Grandpa under the umbrella!

Megan's bathing suit was actually Ally's first suit from her Aunt Jessica.  Ally and Megan just adore each other!

Yes, that is Grammy jumping waves with Ally!  We were all surprised! :)

I love this picture.  They are really studying each other!

Megan had a blast with her Grammy and Grandpa!  You could find her in Grandpa's arms for a lot of the week!

The whole family made it into the swimming pool-at least for a few minutes together.

Jeremiah got hooked on catching crabs when we came down in June.  He and the kids kept the crab trap out all week and boiled many crabs.  We ended up having a delicious crab dip with all of the meat at the end of the week.

Ally LOVES the ocean!  It was hard to get her out of the waves.

Who says shovels are only for digging!

All of the girl cousins on the beach together

Megan and her baby boy cousin, due in November!

All 8 cousins on our last night at the beach.  We'll have another baby to add to the mix next year!

Jeremiah took the kids to get smoothies while waiting for dinner on our last night.  There was a big storm approaching that gave us an impressive lightning show during dinner.

We had a surprise baby shower for Lucy on our last night at the beach.  She got some new baby clothes, blankets, a diaper bag, and all of the diaper bag "essentials."

These three really are the sweetest kids.  Grammy got all of the cousins matching pj's.

This was right before we left.  The boys weren't too "into" the picture-Max was at the beginning of being sick, and Drew was just being Drew!

These girls were so sweet to each other all week long.  They really do get along great, especially since they really see each other once a year!

We had a great time at the beach again this summer.  We're already looking forward to our trip next July!

Backyard S'mores

One of our favorite things about our new house is the backyard.  There are 3 acres of woods back there.  The kids love going back there, although the mosquitoes are ferocious!  Evidently, Michigan mosquitoes don't know that bug spray and citronella candles are supposed to keep them away!  Oh well!  We have fun back there anyway!  The other night Jeremiah built a fire in our fire pit so the kids could roast marshmallows and eat s'mores.  They thought this was great!  Ally and Drew were the "wood gatherers" and Jeremiah was the "fire pit master."  We had a fun time!  Megan, by the way, was already in bed!  She'll get s'mores one of these days!

They were waiting to roast marshmallows.  Notice how light it still is outside-it was after 8:30 pm!

Doesn't Jeremiah look so proud about his fire!

Eating her first of many s'mores!

Drew even ate s'mores this time!  He usually just eats the marshmallows.  He loved them!

Roasting marshmallows over the fire

We had a great time.  I have a feeling this will be a regular event around the Washburn house this fall!

4th of July in Michigan

Happy 4th of July! Sorry these pictures are a little out order.  I put some pictures on yesterday and then added more today.  I can't figure out how to move them.  Oh well!

We had our first 4th of July in Michigan.  We had a very fun day.  It started out with a parade in downtown Northville.  We were able to walk there from our house.  The parade was great!  It lasted over an hour.  It was neat to experience a small town atmosphere!  We stayed around the house most of the day and unpacked more boxes.  We are almost done unpacking though!  I'll post pictures of our house soon!  We had a cookout at the house for dinner.  An all-American dinner of grilled burgers, tater tots, and fruit salad!  Ally and Drew made our dessert-a cookie pizza.  It was delicious!  We finished the day with fireworks down in Dearborn.  We drove down and watched them from the practice fields at the Lions complex.  We had a fun and relaxing day.  We hope you did too!

Ally and Drew's patriotic dessert creation-it was yummy!

Megan watched Ally and Drew make the dessert.

Drew was protecting us from "evil forces" as we entered the Lions complex!

The kids were waiting for the fireworks to begin.  This was before we were eaten alive by mosquitoes!

Here are some fireworks from the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn.  You can barely make out Drew in the picture with his light saber.  The kids loved the fireworks!

Ally and Megan were decked out in their red, white, and blue before the parade.

We were heading up the street to the parade.  It is really neat living in a place where you can walk to downtown!

Drew had the best seat at the parade!  There are big benefits from having a tall daddy!

Megan enjoyed watching her first parade.

Drew and Ally had front row seats for the parade. The little old lady behind them was so cute.  She made sure that both Ally and Drew got candy and other goodies during the parade.

They got cowboy hats from the parade.  You can't take the Texas out of these kids!

This is on our front porch swing.  You'll notice that we can't get Drew to give a "good" smile in any of these.  That's just our Drewy!

Our two sweet girls in our new front yard

At least Drew is smiling at his crab!

We hope you all had a wonderful day!  Thanks for checking in on us!
